Job Summary:

The Infant/Toddler Teacher Aide is responsible for providing a safe, clean and developmentally appropriate preschool program in conjunction with the Head Teacher and Assistant Teacher in the classroom. Follow the guidelines of Round the Clock and NYC DOH Article 47 guidelines under the supervision of the Head teacher. Teacher’s aide maintains an open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child, family and team members.


Under the supervision of the Infant/Toddler Teacher, the Infant Toddler Aide shall be responsible to:

  • Assist with supervision of infants at all times in the classroom, changing area, and playground.

  • Assist in developing and implementing daily and weekly lesson plan activities that meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program.

  • Responds quickly in a soothing and tender manner to children’s cries or calls of distress.

  • Implements individualized feeding for children; sits with toddlers and shares family-style meal; models manners and good nutrition. Assist with eating and bottle feeding.

  • Assistant in care-giving routines, (feeding, diaper changing and hygiene needs).

  • Following the directive of the Head teacher, the teacher aide must assist with the cleaning, wiping down, and dusting of classroom furnishing (tables, chairs, desk, cupboards, etc.) on a daily basis.

  • Help provide various experiences and activities for children, (songs games and learning activities).

  • Be familiar with emergency procedures and safety precautions.

  • Participate in agency workshops and trainings as required by RCN (30 hours of training every two years); CDA or college classes.

  • Assist in maintaining effective affective communication with parents and other staff.

  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

  • The Infant Teacher Aide will be thoroughly committed to RCN’S MISSION. At least 1 year of experience working with Infants/Toddlers preferred; college courses or internship acceptable while in college.

  • CDA is required for continues employment as training.

  • High School diploma or GED required.
